Released in 2025, So Close To What is the third studio album from Canadian pop star Tate McRae, marking a confident step into a bigger, more polished pop sound. Drawing heavily on early-2000s pop and R&B influences, the album combines sleek electronic production, dancefloor-ready beats and McRae's breathy vocals with themes of love, relationships, independence and growing into adulthood.
Featuring the hit singles It's ok I'm ok, 2 hands and Sports car, the album balances high-energy pop with more vulnerable moments. Collaborations with Flo Milli and The Kid LAROI add further dimension, while tracks such as Dear god, Nostalgia and No I'm not in love showcase McRae's more introspective side.
