Originally released in 1975, Horses is Patti Smith's groundbreaking debut and one of the defining records of New York's early punk movement. Produced by John Cale, the album fused rock, poetry, garage energy and avant-garde experimentation, establishing Smith as a singular artistic voice. Her confrontational performances and poetic songwriting gave the record an intensity that continues to influence generations of alternative and punk artists.
The 50th Anniversary 2LP features the original album remastered directly from the original master tapes, alongside a second LP of previously unreleased outtakes, alternate takes and rarities, including material from Smith's 1975 RCA audition. Highlights include Birdland (Alternate Take), Snowball, Distant Fingers and The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game.
