Originally released in 1994, MTV Unplugged in New York is Nirvana’s iconic live album, recorded for MTV at Sony Music Studios in New York on 18 November 1993. Rather than simply reworking their biggest hits, the band delivered a stripped-back and remarkably intimate set that mixed Nirvana favourites with unexpected covers, including songs by The Vaselines, David Bowie, Meat Puppets and Lead Belly.
This 180g vinyl pressing on Geffen Records features the album’s original fourteen-track sequence, including About a Girl, Come As You Are, The Man Who Sold the World and the haunting Where Did You Sleep Last Night. Capturing Kurt Cobain and the band at one of their most vulnerable and compelling moments, MTV Unplugged in New York remains one of the most celebrated live albums in alternative rock.
