Released in 2023, Five Easy Hot Dogs is the fifth studio album from Canadian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mac DeMarco. Recorded during a solo road trip across North America, the album is an entirely instrumental collection inspired by the places DeMarco passed through, with each track recorded and mixed in the corresponding city. The result is a relaxed, spontaneous record that captures the atmosphere of life on the road.
This vinyl edition was released on 16 June 2023 through Mac’s Record Label and features the album’s fourteen-track sequence, moving from Gualala and Crescent City through Portland, Vancouver, Edmonton and Chicago before finishing in Rockaway. Built around DeMarco’s lo-fi production, warm guitar tones and understated instrumental arrangements, Five Easy Hot Dogs offers a more atmospheric and contemplative side of his distinctive sound.
