KMD - Black Bastards (2LP)

Originally recorded in 1993 and eventually released in 2000, Black Bastards is the legendary second and final studio album from KMD, the influential hip hop group featuring Zev Love X — later known as MF DOOM — and his brother Subroc. The album's playful production, off-kilter samples and sharply subversive lyricism pushed far beyond the conventions of early-'90s rap, creating a raw and unconventional sound that has become hugely influential in underground hip hop.

Originally shelved by Elektra due in part to its controversial artwork and uncompromising content, the album eventually gained cult status before receiving an official release years later. Featuring tracks such as Get-U-Now, What A Ngga Know?*, Gimme and Suspended Animation, Black Bastards offers a fascinating glimpse into the early work of an artist who would go on to become one of hip hop's most revered figures. This 2LP edition presents the classic album across two records.
