Released in 2026, The Tiberi Tapes: A Preview Of The Mythic Recordings presents two previously unreleased recordings of John Coltrane and his Classic Quartet from the early 1960s. Recorded by musician Frank Tiberi as he followed Coltrane’s group through clubs in New York and Philadelphia, the tapes capture the legendary quartet of Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Steve Davis and Pete La Roca during one of the most important periods in modern jazz.
This Record Store Day 2026 exclusive is pressed as a limited-edition mono LP through Verve/Impulse!, with only 6,000 copies produced. Released on 18 April 2026, the two-track preview features extended performances of Giant Steps and Satellite, offering a rare glimpse into the exploratory live sound of Coltrane’s Classic Quartet ahead of the full Tiberi Tapes collection scheduled for release later in 2026.
