Released in 2018, Joy as an Act of Resistance. is the second studio album from Bristol post-punk band IDLES, following their acclaimed debut Brutalism. Produced by Space and mixed by Adam Greenspan and Nick Launay, the album channels the band’s abrasive punk sound into a fiercely human record tackling toxic masculinity, nationalism, immigration, class inequality and vulnerability. Its confrontational lyrics are matched by a visceral, infectious energy that became central to IDLES’ rise.
This Deluxe Edition 180g vinyl reissue was released on 6 October 2023 through Partisan Records and is housed in a gold glitter die-cut gatefold sleeve with interchangeable artwork inserts featuring 16 original pieces from the Joy as an Act of Resistance. exhibition. The twelve-track sequence includes fan favourites Colossus, Never Fight A Man With A Perm, Danny Nedelko and Rottweiler, capturing IDLES at their most urgent, outspoken and celebratory.
