Originally released in 1996, Morningrise is the second studio album from Swedish progressive metal pioneers Opeth. The album established the band's distinctive fusion of progressive rock, acoustic folk passages and ferocious death metal, with expansive compositions that shift between delicate melodies and crushing heaviness. With every song stretching beyond ten minutes, including the epic 20-minute Black Rose Immortal, Morningrise remains a landmark of Opeth's early era.
This Green 2LP edition was remastered by Jens Bogren under the guidance of Mikael Åkerfeldt and cut at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell. Pressed on 140g green vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve, it presents the album's original five-track sequence with restored artwork.
