Arctic Monkeys - Humbug (LP)

Released in 2009, Humbug is the third studio album from Sheffield's Arctic Monkeys and a significant shift in the band's sound. Moving away from the frenetic indie rock of their first two albums, the record embraces darker, heavier and more psychedelic textures, with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age producing several tracks at his Joshua Tree studio. Alex Turner's songwriting becomes more atmospheric and surreal, while the band's combination of dense guitars, groove-driven rhythms and understated vocals gives the album a distinctive desert-rock edge.
This 180g 1LP edition is housed in a gatefold sleeve and features the complete ten-track sequence. From the hypnotic My Propeller and brooding Crying Lightning through to Cornerstone, Dance Little Liar and the expansive The Jeweller's Hands, Humbug captures Arctic Monkeys at a pivotal point in their evolution from indie-rock favourites into a more adventurous and sonically ambitious band.
